MINUTES OF THE CNCC COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON 20 June 2008 AT HELLIFIELD VILLAGE INSTITUTE The Meeting commenced at 20.00. PRESENT: Glenn Jones (Treasurer), Les Sykes (Secretary), Bernard Bond (BCC), Roy Holmes (Chairman), F. Hartley (BCC), Alan Speight (YSS), (BPC), , Ian Lloyd BPC, G. Barber (PP), J. Sloane (LUG), P. Halliwell, R. Halliwell (CPC), H. Lomas (YRC), D. Mellor (CPC). 1. APOLOGIES: M. Hale (BSC/CRO), S. Lieberman (RRCPC), Andy Whitney (RRCPC), Marion Dunn BSG, M. Hughes 2. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: Minutes accepted and signed. 3. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE LAST MINUTES: No matters arising. 4. CHAIRPERSONS REPORT: The chairman mentioned the following events, 29 June Broughton game show, 26 July Clapham street Market (CRO fund raising event). SECRETARYS REPORT: Most items are covered in CNCC Technical group report. There was a brief update on Dale barn cave that being that access is still not permitted. TREASURERS REPORT: Written report presented. The new rigging guide is selling well and CNCC has already recouped its original printing costs. The old version of the rigging guide is no longer avail from CNCC as stocks are now exhausted. CNCC has issued cheques for the following; stabilisation of Tatham Wife Hole, and resin fro BCA. ACCESS AND CONSERVATION OFFICER: G. Barber attended the meeting for a full update on Fairy Holes in Weardeal. It was explained that the cave to which access has bee not permitted because of the quarry working is still closed and is held within planning applications, GB explained that this alone put the owners in breach of their contract as it was to be returned to caver access post quarry operations. The whole case is complicated, CNCC, BCA and Natural England are to oppose the application and request that the conditions originally agreed are revisited. CNCC has agreed that if access controls are required then CNCC is willing to administer them. Cave conservation monitoring, Natural England are keen to get the issued progressed as a matter of urgency, they have until 2010 to complete the work. It is envisaged that CNCC member clubs and cavers will undertake the bulk of the work and GB is negotiating the conditions and the possibility of funding for the project. TRAINING OFFICERS REPORT: No Training Officer at present. TECHNICAL GROUP: Finally the new type Eco anchor has been installed for a series of tests to ascertain its suitability for cavers use. As soon as the preliminary results are ready they will be published on the CNCC web site and the CNCC Technical Group web site. 5. MEETS SECRETARYS REPORTS: Leck Fell: There has been an increase in permit requests. Casterton Fell: No problems to report. Birks Fell: Mongo Gill padlock has been replaced. Currently there has not been a great demand for permits. Penyghent and Fountains Fell: No problems. Other Areas: Reference to Dale Barn Cave. 9. BCA REPORTS: LS mentioned that BCA treasurer took an exception amount of time to pay travelling expenses (5 months). GJ mentioned that he had been requesting a regional treasurers meeting and finally a date has been set for 26 July 2008. All the BCA registrations for the Vercors have been sold. 11. ANY OTHER BUSINESS: The committee thanked Andy Walsh for sorting out the entrance to Tatham Wife Hole. 12. DATE AND PLACE OF MEETING: 17 October 2008 Hellifield Village Institute, Hellifield.
