UPPER WHARFEDALE

BIRKS FELL CAVE

Club access only with C.N.C.C. permit which must be shown at Redmire Farm, Buckden. No permits issued between 1st November and 14th April . Use Buckden car park and approach by the public path.

BIRKS WOOD, REDMIRE POT ETC.

Permission Redmire Farm, Buckden.

FOSS GILL CAVE & POT

Write (enclosing SAE) to Mr. Lister, c/o Bushey Lodge Farm, Starbotton.

GREAT WHERNSIDE

DOW CAVE & PROVIDENCE POT

Knowledge of both ends of the Dowber Gill Passage should be obtained before attempting the through trip.

LANGCLIFFE POT

Mr.R.Lambert, Mile House, Kettlewell, Skipton. Permission unlikely.

ODDMIRE POT

Mr.B.Appleton, Westgate, Kettlewell, skipton. Permission unlikely.

PENYGHENT GILL

OUT SLEETS  BECK  POT

DAWSON CLOSE & LOCKEY GILL AREAS

Call at : Penyghent House Farm.

SNORKEL CAVE & COW CLOSE AREA

UPPER LITTONDALE

                No access at present, C.D.G. only.

CRYSTAL BECK POT & SPITTLE CROFT CAVE

Call at; West Farm (Mrs.Lund) Litton, Skipton, BD23.

LOWER LITTONDALE

COTE GILL POT

Call at; Arncliffe Cote Farm (Mrs. S. Foster), Arncliffe, Skipton. The water from this cave goes to Moss Beck which is a source of drinking water.

LANGSTROTHDALE

Langstrothdale

Langstrothdale is now owned by the National Trust, the warden for the area is; Pete Katic, Yockenthwaite Cottage, Hubberholme, BD23 5JH.

BOUTHER GILL & BRACKEN CAVE

For permission call at, or write to;  Mr. J.Huck, Church Farm, Buckden, Yorkshire.

LANGSTROTH CAVE & POT, HAGG GILL & ALL CAVES ON RAISEGILL LAND

For permission call at, or write to; Mr. Hird, Raisegill Farm, Hubberholme, Buckden, BD23 5JQ.

PASTURE GILL POT

For permission call at, or write to; Mr. Mudd, Beckermonds Farm, Buckden, Skipton.

DARNBROOK & COWSIDE

CHERRY TREE HOLE, DARNBROOK POT ETC.

Mr. Taylor (farm manager), Darnbrook Farm, Arncliffe. A call at the farm is sufficient, route to the pots is via the stone track starting mid-way between Darnbrook House and Thoragill Barn, leading up to shooting box, using the gates at all times. Cars may be parked close to the bottom of the stone track.

Robinson's Pot:

This cave has unusual access problems, the entrance being located immediately under the kitchen window of Darnbrook Farm. The National Trust have agreed to allow a permit to be issued for the second Saturday of June, September and October respectively. BCA member clubs should apply to Ric Halliwell before the March of the proposed visit as applications are drawn out of a hat at the CNCC AGM. Priority is given to clubs who have not had a permit previously.

NIDDERDALE

GOYDEN POT & MANCHESTER HOLE

Call at; Limley Farm No.1 (on right) after approaching via the water authority road from Lofthouse, cars may be parked in the lay-by beyond Limley Farm entrance. Approach by river bed only. WARNING ; Caves are subject to total flooding. Check on the height of the water in the reservoir and NOTE westerly wind can blow water from a full or nearly full reservoir over the dam enough to flood these caves.

EGLIN'S HOLE & HOW STEAN AREA

Call at; How Stean Cottage, and approach direct from car park.

LOW EGLIN'S HOLE

Hazel Close Farm, Middlemoor. No need to call if cave is approached from How Stean car park.

BLAYSHAW GILL POTS

Mr. Walker, High Blayshaw Farm, Lofthouse, Harrogate. Permission unlikely at present.

NEW GOYDEN POT

Approach via the foot path on the east side of the river bed. Never cross the field direct from water works road. Call at Limley Farm No.1 as for Goyden Pot. Check the flood risk

STUMP CROSS AREA

MONGO GILL HOLE

Club access with C.N.C.C. permit which must be produced at Stump Cross Caverns. Park further up the road not at the show cave. Replace shaft covers. No vehicles are permitted down the track or through the gate. No permits issued for the period 1st May-31st July.

STUMP CROSS CAVERNS

There is no access through the show cave entrance to the system. Club access to Great Expectations and Valentine's Hole with CNCC permit which must be produced at Stump Cross Caverns. At present, the connection between Great Expectations and Stump Cross streamway has collapsed. Closed season is July and August.

HELL HOLE

COVERDALE & BISHOPDALE

SCRAFTON POT

Approach via moor gate, by going under bridge, cars to be parked on wide verge outside village. Phone, Mrs. Forrest 01969 40640 for current weather conditions and stream levels if required.

BISHOPDALE GAVEL CAVE & STAKE MOSS POT

All are best approached from Kidstone Pass.

Call at the nearest farm on route to the cave.

WENSLEYDALE

FOSSDALE BECK CAVES

Approach from Butter Tubs Road.

KELDHEADS CAVE

Apply to; Mr. J.Hills, The Estate Office, Leyburn, Yorkshire, DL8 5EW.

THACKTHWAITE BECK CAVES

Apply to; Mr. J.Hills, The Estate Office, Leyburn, Yorkshire, DL8 5EW.

SWALEDALE & ARKENGARTHDALE

HARD LEVEL GILL CAVE, GUNNERSIDE GILL & PUNCHARD GILL

Caves lie on sheep grazing land shared by groups of farmers, represented by local moor committee. Surface digs, wall damage etc. could cause access problems.

WINDEGG MINE CAVERNS

KISDON POTS

Call at nearest farm on route.

EAST GILL & SWINNERGILL

GRETADALE

These groups of caves are situated in enclosed land, it is important to call at; Holly Tree House, Thorpe, Yorkshire.
