Access

This is a working show cave so prior permission must be arranged in advance with the Cave Management.

We recommend a telephone call on 01524 241244, or you could try email (see their website).

Access restored in September 2022 following a year of closure due to boulder collapse. Visiting cavers are encouraged to see THIS NEWS ARTICLE which contains important information about the route through the choke beyond Big Bertha.

All visiting cavers must comply with the following rules:

  • Minimum 3 persons per group.
  • All visitors must have public liability insurance (e.g. BCA insurance, green card to be shown).
  • All trips are weather dependent on the day and access may be cancelled by the Cave Management.
  • Wetsuits or neo-fleeces are advisable.
  • Access fee may be payable.

It is usual for visiting cavers to be asked to arrive and be changed into caving gear BEFORE the show cave opens. This may necessitate quite an early start.

This cave is NOT on access land. Click here for more information.
